Blogrolling

As promised on Friday I am finally updating the blogroll.

Joining the league of reciprocal linkers:

My Left Wing Girlfriend.
Has anyone ever had a girlfriend or spouse who was more right wing than you? I thought so.

Dust My Broom who has been at his job way to long. Dude these guys can help you.

BumfOnline . What's a Bumf? Well you have to go over to the blog and find out don't you? Hey remember that song by the Jimmie Castor Bunch? Bertha Butt Boogie?
Bumf Bumf Baba Dump..... Ba Bumf Bumf Bumf.... Baba Dump...

Jay Currie is a fellow Shotgun contributor with a neat idea to start an "urban" conservative magazine. I hope I get to do the cooking section.

The Red Granger isn't a socialist so why is he red? Maybe it's an Illinois thing. He also goes by the name "Silicon Ninja"

In Ottawa under the under the unflinching souless stare of bureaucrats Keith is a Minority of One. I agree with him about the second debate. Bush clobbered Kerry. However I don't think he can score a knockout in the domestic policy debate. That's ok cause all Bush needs is to tie to continue his reign as KING OF MORDOR!!!!

Greg Staples has actually found something good in the Toronto Star. He says he got the paper for free. But just the same I am going to keep an eye on him.

John Gushue is a fellow Newfie only he hasn't fled the rock like "expats" like myself have. Ya gotta love a blog with a section called "craft singles".

Shannon Davies is another Ottawa resident although she originally came from BC and managed to survive the prolonged exposure to UVic’s hippies and socialists, graduate, and get a real grown-up job. Sounds like so many of us on the blogroll. Oh, and she doesn't want two husbands either. That's ok I don't want two wives. A wife and a cocubine, now that's a completely different thing. Oh by the way if my wife is reading this post IT"S SATIRE!

One more thing: Watcher of Weasels' Url is now a .com (just in case you didn't know).

Oh and one more thing:

Note that the blogroll is now alphabetized? Pretty neat huh?

Tomorrow is Canadian Thanksgiving. So I will be cooking all day. And eating all night.

See ya Tuesday.

Joe Versus the Volcano

I must admit I chuckled when I saw this quote over at Kathy's blog:

"There's something really grotesque about a list that rewards bloggers like Kathy Shaidle"

Of course Kathy's response is priceless but you'll have to go there to read it.

Now, how do I get on that list?

Dick Cheney Bad Man

I watched a chunk of the Fifth Estate's "expose" on Dick Cheney last night.

If you missed the exciting revelations that were brought forth in the program here is a helpful summary.

Cheney flunked out of Yale - this is a sure sign that someone is evil.
Cheney married a homecoming queen and made her pregnant - again EVIL!!!
Cheney (like Bill Clinton )didn't fight in Vietnam which normally isn't evil (by the CBC's standards) but he didn't hide out on Vancouver Island and make crappy trinkets for tourists and live in a hippy commune so ..... EVIL!!!!

Dick Cheney may be a man or he may be a cardboard cutout of a man. Certainly the cardboard cutout Dick Cheney was more amenable to being filmed than the real Dick Cheney. Neither would agree to be interviewed however.

Cheney was the real cause of the first Gulf War. The fact that a legitimate sovereign nation was invaded and enslaved by another country had nothing to do with it. The real cause was a fake satellite picture that Cheney made to fool the Saudi's with.

When Cheney worked for a company called Halliburton they paid him money - EVIL!

Halliburton makes a profit this is normally a good thing except when you make a profit that has anything to do with a war. Then it becomes PROFITEERING which is EVIL!! Except when you do it for Bill Clinton in Bosnia. Then we don't mention it.

A Canadian who sold illegal parts to Iraq went to jail. Somehow this makes Cheney even more evil.

George Bush (who is also evil) might be controlled by Dick Cheney. Or he might not.

Someone who worked in the Pentagon said that Evil Dick Cheney didn't like it when you told him things that he didn't want to hear. They worried that they might no longer "work for Dick Cheney" if they did this. Even though these people technically don't work for Dick Cheney and even though she didn't mention that anyone specifically had been fired. IT STILL MAKES HIM EVIL!!

Cheney bamboozled George Bush and the rest of us by manipulating intelligence data. He did this by "cherry picking" which is when you pick only the facts that fit your case and "stovepiping" which is when you insert information without context into your argument. The CBC has learned a lot from Dick Cheney.

Anyone who refuses to be interviewed by the CBC is EVIL!

The man who hosts the show looks like he could be Dalton McGuinty's fat brother. He says that George Bush and Dick Cheney went to war not for real reasons but because of "bunk and bravado".

Bunk and Bravado was Dick Cheney's favorite movie when he was a kid.

The CBC has another special coming on called "The World According to Bush". It probably wont be longer than 5 minutes since we all know now that he is controlled by EVIL DICK CHENEY!!.

This is a trick by the CBC to show the Dick Cheney documentary twice and pretend it is two different documentaries.

As a taxpayer I am offended that I am being sold the same piece of propag journalism for the price of two. However at the same time I am impressed by their frugality.

To learn more about Dick Cheney visit your local library or click here.
Update: I originally meant that last link to go directly to factcheck.org's debunking of several Cheney myths that CBC trotted out last night (obviously without fact checking). Howeve the link didn't work so now it just goes to the main Fact Check site. Once there you can scroll down to an article about Cheney or search the archives. Then decide who was being "fair and balanced"

Network

The VP debates last night were probably not watched by many Americans considering the baseball playoffs have just begun. I didn't watch either and so contented myself with watching the news - or at least trying to find a highlight on the news.

This morning when I turned on the TV it was switched to CBC. How odd I thought since I never watch that channel. Then I remembered that I had it on breifly last night to watch "Making the Cut" the only reality show I have ever had an interest in.

The talking head mentions the VP debate between Cheney and the trial lawyer but spends more time reminding us that the 5th Estate will have an important documentary on Dick Cheney entitled "the unauthorized biography" tonight. The CBC has been pimping this thing all over the place. Last night some guy from the 5th Estate (not Lyndon Soles or Eric Malling) showed up on the hockey show to tell us how important the documentary about Cheney is going to be merely minutes after CBC had aired a commercial telling us how great the documentary was going to be.

I don't know what the overall tone of the show will be but we do have one hint. During all the commercials I saw the only excerpt (other than shots of Cheney walking around) that they give us is some middle-eastern fellow claiming that Cheney is a "war criminal".

Of course producing a hack job on a Republican American and then saturating us with promos for it is considered perfectly acceptable by our state sponsored media.

Mention Fox News however and Canadian Journalists become perfect snobs.

Want proof? See this Macleans Article (Via CBC watch) where a reporter acutally has to watch Fox for a few days.

CBC Watch is all over this one - click hereto read.

Envy

I am embarassed by my puny so-called barbecues in light of this. Well it's more of an outdoor oven really plus a grill so technically, probably not a "true barbecue" but DAMN!!! I want one and my yard is big enough. Bruce is your Chilean friend taking orders?

Geese love Ganders.....

While thousands are being murdered daily in the Sudan. While countless women in Muslim countries around the world are oppressed and murdered routinely. Amnesty International is preparing a report on a country that is obviously much more problematic for them: Canada.

Amnesty International's key findings suggest that Canada fails to provide native women with adequate protection.

In addition, it posits that the precarious social and economic status of native women in Canada pushes them into dangerous situations including poverty, homelessness and prostitution.

Ok, I am sympathetic to the plight of native women in Canada but where is Amnesty getting there information?

In producing the report, Amnesty worked with Sisters in Spirit, a campaign launched by the Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) to try and draw attention to missing women.

So who exactly is "Sisters in Spirit"? They appear to be a group with good intentions. While a serial killer was obviously operating on the streets of Vancouver the police seemed to ignore the murders of prostitutes in that city. Sisters in Spirit is rightly angry about this. However from their website comes this little piece:

In Vancouver, more than 50 women went missing in that city?s Downtown Eastside. Sixty percent were Aboriginal, and most were young. These were poor women involved in the sex trade. They struggled with drugs and alcohol. Some suffered from the effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and many were victims of childhood sexual abuse. Every one of them grew up in a foster home. In other words, their lives bore all of the markings of the violence of colonization.

Whoa "Sister". Violence of Colonization????? Sorry but plenty of white women (and men) come from broken homes and struggle with drugs, alcohol and sexual abuse. Unfortunately we don't have the "violence of colonization" excuse to fall back on.

But these women also had families, hopes, dreams. They left behind grieving communities ? grandmothers, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers, and sadly, young children of their own. These young women had belonged somewhere and were loved.

I thought they all grew up in foster homes? And weren't they all sexually abused? And probably by members of their immediate families?

Hey if their families loved them enough they wouldn't have ended up in foster homes with histories of sexual abuse.

In the early 70's Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau sought to deal with the "Indian problem" by abolishing reservations and creating a system whereby natives would integrate more fully with modern society. Native leaders turned thumbs down on the idea because to them it smacked of "assimilation". The plan was squashed and the reserve system was kept in place.

This same reserve system is just as much at fault for creating the situation these women find themselves in as the "violence of colonization". But I guess having "sisters" servicing white men on the streets of Vancouver is a little more palatable than assimilating into our culture and becoming ... I dunno doctors, lawyers and teachers huh?

The killing of anyone (not just a Native woman) is tragic but laying the blame for this one on "whitey" is a cop-out.

For Amnesty International this one is obviously to perfect to pass up. After all it's easier to criticize a guilt ridden democracy than an insane theocracy.

Of course Canadians will be told by the CBC that we should be feeling extreme shame over this. And of course we will, further cementing our place as the global "Ned Flanders"

"I'm meek but I could probably stand to be meeker"
