Friends of Frank J.
Someone who apparently claims to be affiliated with the Tupac Amaru has written hate mail - in Spanish to Frank J.
I wonder how he found Frank's site. Probably because unknown to most people Frank is actually a communist.
There are several clues about this on his blog. The most obvious is the title of the blog IMAO which is a reference to the fact that Frank channels Chairman Mao on a regular basis - I, Mao (get it?).
Also Frank J. hates monkeys. Everyone knows that Chairman Mao hated monkeys but Ronald Reagan (hero of the neocon movement) loved monkeys and appeared with them in movies many times.
There are more clues that I will divulge over the coming weeks and months. But I would encourage you to spot some of your own.
It is disturbing to have this agent provocateur in our midst but since he is funny we should keep him around for entertainment value.
In addition Practical Penumbra linked to my story about the media's laziness around the Air Force sexual assault "scandal".
I scooped Colby Cosh (by at least a week) on the left's "phone in Friday" and I was one of the first Bloggers to announce the Ontario election call (before most news sites had updated as well).
I discovered "eropuri' which led to a flood of Google hits. The "eropuri" assault moved me up 288 on the Truth Laid Bear blog ecosystem; temporary to be sure but nice to be in the top half as opposed to the bottom half.
Fortune Magazine a supposed business publication continues it's slide leftward with a curious article about the California recall election entitled:
Will the Right's Man Win?
The piece starts out with a breakdown of which businesses support which candidate leaving us to wonder if the proper title should be "Will Business' Right Man Win?". 10 years ago Fortune would have approached it as such. But new owners and new editors have wrought a change in the magazine's slant and tone. Past recent issues have gone after Donald Rumsfeld and also criticized the President's tax cut (something that would have been unheard of until recently).
The last paragraph is alone is worth re-reading
"The irony is that the Republican-initiated recall effort could be for naught unless the anti-Davis factions unite behind one name—or candidates pull a Bill Simon and bow out. Otherwise, if the recall passes, a handful of candidates could steal enough votes from Schwarzenegger to tip the race in favor of Bustamante. And conservatives would finally know the meaning of a Ralph Nader moment. "
OK I guess Julie Schlosser who wrote the article must be fresh out of college. How else to explain her apparent ignorance of history. Ross Perot split enough of the Republican vote in '92 and '96 to give Clinton the White House. Typical of Democrats and those further to the left of them to assume that bad things happen only to them.
What bothers me most is the last sentence: "conservatives would finally know the meaning of a Ralph Nader moment." Notice the use of the word finally - in other words I hope they finally get what's coming to them. Note also the use of the word conservatives - she goes from talking about business to Republicans to conservatives using them interchangeably. There is a difference and Ms. Schlosser would do well to learn it.
I have been a loyal subscriber to this magazine for over 10 years. I don't think I will renew my subscription when it expires.
The Guardian has a story about the growing problem of obesity especially in children in a country known for it's love of food. Guess what? It's not the country you think it is.
Not many tears will be shed by Leaf fans over the departure of forward Jonas Hogland who signed with the Florida Panthers today.
Hoglund never could make it on the first line and was practically invisible if he didn't have Matts Sundin to feed him the puck. In fact he would have been traded two years ago if not for a jammed fax machine. With the emergence of two solid lines last year there really was no room for Hoglund who couldn't make it on a checking line and certainly wasn't going to be a pk specialist.
I wonder how long it will take the hyper critical Toronto sports media to start bemoaning the loss of a fine player like Hoglund with no suitable replacement.
Hot on the heels of Audrey McLauglin's shocking conversion to a war supporter last week we have anoter similar story as a former "human shield" has changed his mind.
I will be extremely busy today so blogging will be light. Meantime check out the blogroll there are some great reads there and also check out this post at The CounterRevolutionary it's fantastic.
" Actually, “cracker” is now being used to distinguish a malicious hacker from a noble one. Hacker used to be a word of esteem (among nerds and geeks, that is) before it became synonymous with breaking into computers. 'I am a hacker,' some would say, 'and the computer doth obey me. Fear me and my power and pray that I use it for good.'
* Okay, no one ever said that; I'm most likely the first person in the history of time to have come up with that sentence."
Someday I will tell my sister's grandkids (I'm never gonna have any kids so I can stop saying my grandkids) I was there on-line when Frank J. came up with that sentance.
Either that or I will be screaming it in the old folks home as they double my medication.
The Islamic Cleric who supposedly leads Jemaah Islamiyah (everytime I hear that name I start singing that Hank Williams song "jumbalay crawfish pie cherry gumbo" or whatever the words were) gets off with a mere slap on the wrist and leaves the court room smiling!
He was only convicted of TREASON after all.
And we thought the Canadian courts were soft on crime.
